Tips and Tricks to Take Care of Combination Skin

Get that perfect skin

The first step in taking care of your skin is identifying its kind. Once that’s done, it’s only a matter of efforts as to how you take care of your skin. Different people have different kind of skin. Combination skin is one of them. As the name suggests it’s a combination of oily and dry skin. Most of the times, the oily region is located on the bridge of the nose, forehead and chin and at times spread out to different zones. Here are some combination skin care tips.

1. Cleansing

Don’t be cruel

The first thing to do is to switch to a mild water soluble face-wash instead of using a harsh soap. Though it may be hard to do this initially, trust me, your skin is going to thank you for it! Don’t forget to exfoliate your skin twice a week so as to get rid of that dead skin which will make it possible for your skin to breathe.

2. Toning

Use a toner

Toning is must for all skin types, and even more so for combination skin. Toning your skin is a great way of balancing out all your skin oils and shrinking your pores. While doing this, you should make sure that you check if your toner is alcohol free or not. This is important as toners that have alcohol in them can cause skin irritation.

3. Moisturise

Mix and match

For combination skin, it’s a good idea to use different products to moisturise different parts of your face. For your cheeks, you can use a thick moisturiser while your T-zone could do well with a light moisturiser. It’s the effort you put in to keep your skin beautiful that will make all the difference.

4. Sunscreen

It isn’t considered to be the most common advice for nothing. Irrespective of your skin type, it is downright mandatory to protect your skin from harsh sunlight. Additionally, using sunscreen will prevent your skin from getting those early signs of ageing. When it comes to people with combination skin, there just can’t be any excuse to not use sunscreen.

5. Home remedies

Most of us trust professional care more than those known age old remedies. Just because you have those vouchers for a parlour doesn’t mean you have to use them! Instead, you should try to opt for some of these home remedies:

  • Apply fuller earth mixed with rose water to soften and tighten your skin. Wash it after 10 minutes.
  • For glowing skin, mix papaya and banana together and add honey to the paste. Apply this mixture on your face, leave it to dry and then wash it.
  • To cool your skin, apply a grated cucumber with 1/2 tsp of milk cream and 1 tsp of honey. Apply it to your face and wash it off after 15-20 minutes.

Fancy clothes and accessories are of no use if you have pale and tired looking skin. Believe it or not, most of us are actually born with good and healthy skin. Due to pollution, stress and lack of basic care, however, our skin starts looking haggard and unhealthy. You don’t need professional help to fix this. With just a little bit of tender love and care, you can restore your skin to its glory.
