21 Surprising Uses For Lemons That You Haven’t Tried Yet, But Should



There’s a reason why cleaning products often smell like lemon.

This little citrus fruit works as a powerful cleaner and deodorizer.

Once you read this article, you’ll definitely want to put lemons on your weekly grocery list!


1. Clean The Cutting Board: 


Remove harsh smells from garlic and onion by rubbing half a lemon -pulp side down- on your cutting board. Rinse and wash as per usual. This little tip also sanitizes your kitchen tools!


2. Deodorize your garbage: 


To avoid strong garbage odours, place lemon peel at the bottom of your trashcan. Make sure to replace these peels every few weeks for desired effect.


3. Treat dandruff:


  • Mix 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice with equal parts baking soda. Gently massage into scalp and leave in for a few minutes.
  • Rinse.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of tea tree oil to a cup of water.
  • Pour mixture into a bowl large enough for your hair.
  • Soak hair in mixture for a few minutes.
  • Pour mixture on scalp, being careful not to get any in your eyes.
  • Rinse.
  • Repeat every 2-3 days, not washing hair in between.


4. Whiten clothes: 


Keep linens naturally white by adding a cup of lemon juice to your wash cycle. Bonus: they’ll smell nice and fresh!

When you wake up in the morning, start your day with lemon water. A large glass of hot or lukewarm water with the juice of half a lemon will help detox your kidneys and keep them in their prime.


6. Clean Nails: 


To remove built up grime from your nail, simply soak them in warm lemon water for about 5 minutes. Next, take the inside of a lemon peel and rub on the nails to buffer them. You can also whiten yellow nails by applying lemon juice directly for 5 minutes.

Add a lemon peel to your brown sugar to keep it soft for future use.
